Hygiene Cleaning Equipment, Made by Hillbrush

Manufacturing Excellence For Over 100 Years

Hillbrush designs and manufactures professional cleaning tools for food and beverage production facilities and other hygiene-critical environments. At our manufacturing site in Mere, Wiltshire, we combine product design, injection moulding, specialist brush production, assembly and quality control. This gives us direct knowledge of how our products are made, how they perform and which cleaning applications they are designed to address.

From colour-coded hand brushes and brooms to resin-set brushware and specialist hygiene tools, our products are manufactured around the practical requirements of modern production facilities.

British Manufacturing for Demanding Hygiene Environments

Cleaning tools used in food production must be durable, effective and suitable for the environment in which they will be used.

Their materials, construction, filament retention and ease of cleaning can all affect cleaning performance and contamination control. Our manufacturing process considers these requirements from the initial product concept through to the finished tool.

By maintaining close control over design and production, Hillbrush can manufacture cleaning equipment around real applications rather than simply sourcing generic products from elsewhere.

From Product Design to Production

Our manufacturing process begins by understanding what the product needs to achieve.

This may include:

  • The surface or equipment being cleaned
  • The type of residue that must be removed
  • The level of mechanical cleaning action required
  • Access to corners, machinery and difficult areas
  • Chemical and temperature exposure
  • Handling and ergonomic requirements
  • Colour coding and hygiene zoning
  • Ease of inspection, cleaning and storage

Product concepts can then be developed, tested and refined before moving into manufacture.

In-House Injection Moulding

Injection moulding plays a central role in the Hillbrush Hygiene range.

Many of our brush backs, brooms, scrapers, scoops, squeegees and cleaning-tool components are moulded at our UK facility. This gives our design and manufacturing teams close control over the shape, strength, surface finish, colour and consistency of each component.

Polypropylene is widely used throughout the range because it provides a durable, lightweight and practical material for professional cleaning tools. It can be moulded into defined shapes with smooth surfaces and functional details designed around handling and cleanability.

Our dedicated injection-moulding facilities also allow us to explore modifications and new product development where an existing tool does not meet a customer’s application.

Polypropylene Brush Backs & Tool Components

The Head stock & backs of our hygiene brushes and brooms are manufactured from durable polypropylene rather than timber or other absorbent materials.

Polypropylene does not rot or corrode and can be formed into smooth, consistent product shapes. This makes it well suited to cleaning tools used in wet, demanding and frequently cleaned production environments.

The material also allows products to be manufactured in clearly identifiable colours, helping facilities separate tools by production area, hygiene zone, allergen, department or cleaning task.

Applicable products are manufactured from materials selected to meet relevant FDA and EU food-contact requirements. Product specifications and supporting compliance documents should always be reviewed against the intended application.

Durable Polyester Filaments

Our hygiene brushes and brooms are predominantly filled with synthetic polyester filaments selected for professional cleaning applications. Different filament diameters, lengths, patterns and stiffnesses allow us to manufacture products for a wide range of tasks.

Soft filaments are suited to light debris, powders and more delicate surfaces. Medium filaments provide versatile general-purpose cleaning, while stiff and extra-stiff options deliver greater mechanical action for stubborn residue and more demanding tasks. The stiffest filament is not automatically the best choice. The correct option must provide enough agitation to remove the residue while maintaining effective contact with the surface.

Assembly, Packing & Fulfilment

Quality Control Throughout Production

Manufacturing at our UK facility gives Hillbrush oversight throughout the production process. Depending on the product, quality checks may include the moulded component, filament filling, trimming, handle or socket connections, resin application, assembly and final product condition.

Finished tools are then packed, stored and dispatched directly from our UK warehouse. This connection between manufacturing, warehousing and technical support means customers are purchasing equipment directly from the people responsible for producing and understanding it.

Made by Hillbrush. Supported by Hillbrush

When you purchase Hillbrush Hygiene equipment, you are not simply ordering products from a catalogue. You are buying directly from a British manufacturer with experience across product design, injection moulding, specialist brush production and hygiene applications. That expertise is available whenever you need help selecting a product, reviewing a difficult cleaning task or developing a more complete cleaning system for your facility.

Our capabilities allow us to support projects through:

  1. Application assessment
  2. Product design
  3. Prototype development
  4. Material selection
  5. Injection moulding
  6. Brush production or assembly
  7. Testing and refinement
  8. Manufacture and fulfilment

This may involve modifying the dimensions, filament pattern, stiffness, handle connection or other features of an existing product. More complex applications may require the development of a completely new tool.
